Peewee AE Cyclones cruise to victory
Submitted By Eric Boisvert on Tuesday, October 27, 2009
Peewee AE Cyclones dominate the Goderich Sailors with a 9-2 victory on October 24 at the Listowel Arena. Strong defensive team play and rock solid goaltending from Jacob Nethercott were key factors in Saturdays win.

Twenty-nine seconds into the first period Lane Buchanan fed Austin Service with a beautiful pass up the middle and Service made his way into the offensive zone, fired a nice shot from the slot and found the back of the net. The rest of the first period saw the Cyclones and Goderich each getting some nice scoring chances with the play going end to end.
Going into the second period with the 1-0 lead the Cyclones started to come on strong keeping the play in the Goderich end for most of the period. The Cyclones bulged the twine four times in the second with goals by Service (assisted by Tyler Russell and Buchanan), Wade McPhee (assisted by Eric Sousa and Ben Bowman), Lane Buchanan (assisted by Service and Brenden Hall) and Eric Sousa (assisted by McPhee). Goderich answered back with two goals.
Carrying a 5-2 lead into the third period, Listowel showed no sign of easing up on the Sailors. 34 seconds in, Riley Thompson (assisted by Reese Johnson and Cope Lucas) poked one in behind the Goderich goalie to make it 6-2. The Cyclones would tally three more times in the third with goals from Russell (assisted by Buchanan and Service), Sousa (assisted by McPhee), and Wade McPhee (assisted by Sousa) to finish the score at 9-2.
Zach Robinson and Jason Bulmer both played a fantastic game on defense and Reid Wareham was looking great on the wing.
Good game boys, keep up the great work.

The Peewee AE Cyclones play Sunday October 25 in Kincardine.
